Minister of Environment Yasmine Fouad met with Jacques Volek — the Czech Republic Ambassador in Cairo — to discuss cooperation between the two countries in the 27th Conference of Parties on Climate Change (COP 27) that will be in Sharm El-Sheikh this November.

During the meeting, the minister stressed the depth of relations between Egypt and the Czech Republic, welcoming cooperation between the two parties in the field of climate change and various environmental fields.

She also expressed aspiration for the COP 27 to serve as a catalyst for implementation and build on the outcomes of the COP 26 to achieve effective results on the ground in the fields of mitigation, adaptation, and obtaining the necessary funding for developing countries to counter the negative effects of climate change.

For his part, Volek expressed the desire of the Czech Minister of Environment to visit Egypt and discuss a number of important environmental matters, especially in light of the Czech state’s readiness to assume the presidency of the EU in the second half of the year.

He also stressed the desire of the Czech environment minister to hold a meeting with Fouad and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry.
