Egypt’s FM heads to Madrid for talks with Spanish officials on strengthening bilateral relations

Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry headed for the Spanish capital of Madrid on Sunday at the invitation of his Spanish counterpart Jose Manuel Álvarez to hold talks on enhancing bilateral relations.

Shoukry will be received by King Felipe VI of Spain and will hold talks with the Third Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Environmental Transformation and Demographic Challenges, said Ahmed Hafez — Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Hafez added that the visit comes within the framework of the development of relations between Egypt and Spain.

It is also to follow-up on the results of Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez’s visit to Cairo last December and efforts to increase economic cooperation, especially to attract more Spanish investments to Egypt.

He added that Shoukry will also coordinate on Egypt’s hosting and chairing of the 27th session of the Conference of Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP 27).
