President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi directed the government to quickly determine the additional supply incentive for the local wheat ardeb price for the current agricultural season and announce it as soon as possible.

Al-Sisi also directed the government to study the cost of producing the unsubsidised free loaf of bread as well as its pricing, provided that the Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade provides the necessary flour for bakeries to set the price, with investigations and supply inspectors verifying the implementation.

The president made his remarks during a meeting to follow up on the provision of strategic stocks of all basic food commodities, especially with the approach of the holy month of Ramadan, according to a statement from Presidential Spokesperson Bassam Rady.

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, Minister of Defence Mohamed Zaki, Minister of Supply and Internal Trade Ali Al-Moselhi, Minister of Interior Mahmoud Tawfiq, and Head of the General Intelligence Service Abbas Kamel attended the meeting.

Al-Moselhi reviewed the strategic stock of all basic food commodities for the country, confirming their availability in the appropriate quantities for citizens.

Furthermore, the president directed the government to work on diversifying its sources of supplying these commodities while seeking to increase their stock for a future period of no less than six months.

Al-Sisi was also briefed on the government’s efforts during the last period to monitor and control prices.

With regard to supporting the neediest groups in the holy month of Ramadan, the president directed coordination between all concerned authorities, especially the Armed Forces, the supply ministry, and the Long Live Egypt Fund to provide low-priced food commodities as well as distribute Ramadan care packages with food supplies.
