Zamalek’s Board of Directors, headed by Mortada Mansour, plans to sign 10 new players in the upcoming summer transfer window, in order to treat the lack of depth in the squad after the two-window transfer ban.

Amir Mortada Mansour, who is responsible for managing the football sector in Zamalek, will hold a meeting with the newly appointed coach Jesualdo Ferreira before the end of the current season in order to decide on the names that Zamalek need to recruit in the coming period. The management reportedly prepared a large list of local and African players and will ask Ferreira to choose the best of them.

The Portuguese coach will also decide on the future of the team’s loaned players, most notably the goalkeepers Mahmoud Gensh and Mohamed Sobhi, who were loaned to Future FC and Pharco FC; defender Mohamed Shabana who was loaned to Al Ittihad Alexandria; and winger Omar Kamal Abdel Wahed who plays for Future.

Moreover, the Zamalek administration will hold successive sessions after the team’s clash with Moroccan side Wydad in the CAF Champions League, with Tarek Hamed, Mohamed Abu Gabal, Omar Al-Saeed, Hazem Imam, and Razak Cissé in order to renew their contracts with the club.

With regard to Moroccan player Ashraf bin Sharqi, the club is scheduled to hold a final session with his brother/agent in Cairo to settle his contract extension saga. The White Knights will make their final offer to Bin Sharqi, and then the player will decide. Bin Sharqi can leave the club at the end of the season as a free agent, as it happened with his previous teammate Ferjani Sassi.

On the other hand, the team will train on Thursday in preparation for their meeting with Moroccan side Wydad, which is scheduled for Friday at the Cairo International Stadium, in the fourth round of the group stage in the Champions League.

Earlier in the group stage, Wydad beat Zamalek 3-1 in Morocco. Ferreira watched the game with his coaching staff, and will hold a technical session with the players to talk about the competitor’s points of strength and weakness.
