| Spinneys continues to expand in Egypt with the opening of its newest store in Zahraa El Maadi in Cairo on 28 February. The new store is located on the main Road 50 next to Hub 50 mall. The opening marks a new milestone for the company as it kick starts its expansion drive across the country in 2022. |
“This is our first store opening this year and it reflects our ongoing commitment to the Egyptian market in spite of the recent health and economic challenges over the past two years,” Spinneys CEO Mohanad Adly, said. “This also marks the second store opening within less than 3 months after the successful launch of our New Cairo store next to the AUC in December 2021. We want to introduce Spinneys to as many Egyptian consumers as we possibly can, and we will be looking at locations not just in Cairo, but across various other main cities as well.”
Spinneys opened its first branch in Egypt in 2006 and has since made significant strides to increase its presence locally and to enhance the brand’s image and awareness. The company’s new growth strategy is focused on reaching shoppers in urban areas with an upgraded supermarket concept, while also offering fresh innovations in its core hypermarket stores.

Currently, Spinneys operates 18 stores in Egypt and employs approx. 2000 employees. The new store has created an additional 100 new jobs.

This is the first store opening for Spinneys this year following the successful launch of the Pearl Des Rois branch in New Cairo earlier in December last year. Five more Spinneys stores are scheduled to open before the end of this year with the next opening planned in a new Nasr City location before the start of Ramadan.
