The Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) has organized a job fair with the participation of 40 local and international companies specialized in the field of information and communication technology, and young graduates.

The forum, which was organized online, comes within the framework of the authority’s keenness to link qualified cadres of students and graduates looking for job opportunities in various disciplines in the information technology sector, as well as raising job awareness among Egyptian youth, as well as promoting the authority’s various programs and services, starting from the authority’s role in supporting young people and facilitating them to obtain suitable job opportunities available in the Egyptian information technology sector.

Amr Mahfouz, CEO of the authority, had inaugurated the forum’s activities. In his speech, he stressed that the Egyptian information technology sector is one of the labor-intensive and rapidly developing sectors, so we are keen to help graduate youth to find job opportunities that suit their specializations by linking them to the opportunities available in the sector.

Mahfouz highlighted the role played by the Egyptian government and the unprecedented huge investments to develop infrastructure and build and develop digital skills for youth, which has enhanced the rapid response and flexibility towards the work-from-home models imposed by the Corona pandemic.

Mahfouz explained the authority’s role in developing the digital skills of youth and preparing professional cadres to work locally and globally in various disciplines, qualifying them for future jobs and working remotely, through the “Our Digital Future” initiative, future technology pioneers, language education programs and others, noting that the authority trained 162,000 trainees.

The CEO of the authority revealed the details of a new strategy of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, which aims to increase the volume of digital exports of cross-border outsourcing products and services by nearly three times during the next five years, for the first time since 2010, at the end of the implementation of the previous strategy.

The participating companies, including AWS, Oracle, Webhelp, Dell, Etisalat, Teleperformance, VOIS, DXC Technology, Raya, Majorel, Concentrix, announced about 5,700 new job opportunities for young people, as about 6,200 young men and women registered to attend the forum’s activities.

Jobs in business services and customer service in foreign languages were among the most sought-after jobs in cross-border outsourcing services companies, while jobs in Java software developers, integrated web developers, quality engineers and software testing were among the most sought-after jobs in local and global IT companies.

The forum activities included holding workshops by 15 speakers and experts from local and international companies, awareness sessions for industry companies on the idea of remote employment and the advantages of remote work, as well as awareness sessions and introducing the advantages of working in the information technology sector and cross-border services.
