Egypt’s Health Minister, Kuwaiti ambassador discuss combating COVID-19 pandemic

Egypt’s Minister of Health and Population Hala Zayed, received Ambassador of Kuwait in Cairo Muhammad Saleh Al-Dhuwaikh, on Monday evening, to discuss strengthening means of cooperation between the two countries in the health sector and address the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) situation.

The meeting dealt with health controls and travel requirements against COVID-19 to facilitate the movement of people between the two countries.

During the meeting, the minister affirmed Egypt’s keenness to provide refresher doses for travellers to various countries, including Kuwait, explaining that the priority groups for obtaining these doses are those leaving for work, treatment, or study, whether university or postgraduate education.

Moreover, Zayed briefed the Kuwaiti side on the approved certificates for recipients of vaccines for travel purposes, which are issued through the vaccination centers of the Ministry of Health only. 

The minister confirmed that these certificates are insured and are linked to the insured and smart issuance complex, as they carry a rapid response code (QR Code). She also stressed the importance of solidarity between Egypt and Kuwait against the pandemic to protect all citizens from the risk of contracting the virus.

Furthermore, Zayed highlighted Egypt’s position regarding the provision of coronavirus vaccines through agreements signed with various companies and manufacturers of vaccines, in addition to the national production of the vaccine (Sinovac-VACSERA). 

Total of 350,000 citizens have been vaccinated for travel purposes during the past two weeks, and travelers under the age of 18 were allowed to get vaccinated for study or treatment abroad, to facilitate treatment and enhance learning opportunities.

For his part, the Kuwaiti Ambassador affirmed his country’s keenness to facilitate the procedures for safe transportation between Egypt and Kuwait to serve the public interest of the citizens of the two countries. He stressed that the measures taken by the Egyptian Ministry of Health are in line with the health requirements and controls in the State of Kuwait.
