Sophos, a global leader in next-generation cybersecurity, Monday announced the appointment of Silicon21, a regional value-added distributor (VAD) of network infrastructure, collaboration, network security, data centers, and digital imaging solutions, as its new distributor in Egypt.

The collaboration will see Sophos leveraging Silicon21’s countrywide partner and customer base and the distributor expanding its security portfolio with Sophos’ cutting-edge next-generation cybersecurity solutions and services. This will further fortify Sophos’ channel network and grow its presence across Egypt.

“As cyberattacks continue to get more sophisticated, cybersecurity has become the top concern for our customers of all sizes across verticals. Sophos and its next generation cybersecurity solutions empower us to provide a proactive security approach to our partners and customers in the country. Rapid digital transformation in Egypt has increased the attack landscape of adversaries and regional organizations need integrated cybersecurity solutions that can act as a system to combat new age cyberattacks. Sophos, with its synchronized security technology, provides that kind of integrated ecosystem,” said Hazem Al Sharabasy, chief operating officer, Silicon21.

“Sophos’ Active Adversary Playbook 2021 details attacker behaviors and their tools, techniques and procedures (TTPs) that lead to attacks such as ransomware. More than 80% of the attacks Sophos investigated in 2020 and early 2021 involved ransomware. To improve defenses, regional organizations should have a proactive and constantly evolving cybersecurity approach. With Silicon21 as our distributor in the region, organizations across Egypt can now access Sophos’ advanced security solutions and services,” said Harish Chib, vice president, Middle East and Africa, Sophos.
