Egypt’s Minister of Culture Inas Abdel Dayem has launched the second phase of cultural activities under the presidential initiative “Decent Life”, comprising 1,174 cultural events in 106 villages across 7 governorates.

Abdel Dayem said the activities will address all age and social groups, and include musical performances for children, youth, and adults, in addition to theater performances, and artistic, literary, and intellectual workshops, to discover young talents.

The second phase will run from August 2021 to February 2022. The targeted governorates are Assiut, Kafr El-Sheikh, Qena, Fayoum, Ismailia, Sharqeya, and Beheira.

The first phase of this initiative organized training workshops on heritage crafts and presented various cultural and intellectual events, in addition to providing school libraries and youth centres with various books that work on enlightenment and confronting intolerance.

According to the Ministry of Culture, about 6,000 citizens benefited from this initiative.

Cooperating with the Ministries of Education, Sports, and Local Development, the Culture Ministry also established the “Book Kiosk” project. It aims to provide the Ministry’s and private publishing houses’ publications to villagers at lower prices.
