Al-Sisi inaugurates medical city in Cairo

Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi inaugurated, on Thursday, GYPTO Pharma medical city in the Cairo region of Khanka.

The city will allow citizens to obtain high-quality, safe drug treatment, and prevent any monopolistic practices, as well as control medicines prices.

Covering 180,000 sqm, the city is one of the largest of its kind in the Middle East, and is equipped with the latest technologies and global systems in drug production. 

It is set to become a regional centre that will attract major international companies in the field of pharmaceutical and vaccine industries.

During the inauguration, Al-Sisi said that the ability to manufacture pharmaceuticals goes beyond the idea of ​​cost or economic gains.

He added, “We are prepared for everything necessary to localise the drug industry in Egypt.”

The President also noted that Egypt will work on manufacturing oncology drugs to meet 100% of the demands inside the country, whatever the required technology and materials for raw materials.
