Cairo titans Zamalek have decided to part ways with their Portuguese coach Jaime Pacheco after the Ceramica Cleopatra match, which will be held on Thursday evening.

The club’s management decided not to risk keeping the Portuguese coach, and instead to negotiate with a new coach, starting with the Esperance match.

Sources inside Zamalek revealed that there are three candidates to succeed Pacheco as the club’s coach, namely Patrice Carteron, Gabriel Calderon, and Héctor Cúper.

The source noted that Cúper is the likeliest candidate to take over the role, especially since his expected salary is the lowest.

The source indicated that the Argentine coach has informed the Zamalek management he would like some time to consult with his family about the offer, before formally deciding on it.

In a related context, the White Knights’ first team is facing a difficult match against Ceramica Cleopatra on Thursday.

Zamalek will enter the match as the current leaders in the Egyptian Premier League on 30 points, and is seeking to win and consolidate its lead in the table ahead of its rival Al-Ahly, who are currently in third on 24 points.

On the other hand, Ceramica Cleopatra ranks seventh with 21 points, after playing 14 games, of which they won five, lost three, and drew six.
