Egypt, South Korea discuss ways to promote parliamentary cooperation

Egypt’s Senate Speaker Abdel-Wahab Abdel-Razeq met with South Korea’s Ambassador in Cairo Hong Jin-wook, on Tuesday, to discuss ways of promoting and deepening bilateral parliamentary cooperation between the two countries.

Ambassador Hong congratulated Abdel-Razeq on his appointment as the first Speaker of the Senate since its swearing in.

He conveyed a congratulatory letter from Korea’s Parliamentary Speaker, Park Byeong-seug, addressed to Abdel-Razeq.

The Ambassador also expressed his hopes that the Egyptian Senate Speaker will play a vital role in developing the bilateral relations between the two countries.

Abdel-Razeq expressed his hope to deepen the existing mutual relations, including parliamentary cooperation, between the two countries.

Ambassador Hong called on the Egyptian Senate and House of Representatives to support South Korean companies operating in Egypt.  

He emphasised the importance of the bilateral parliamentary cooperation, indicating the visit made by the Egyptian Parliamentary speaker to Korea in December 2018. He also expressed his hope that Abdel-Razeq will visit Korea in the future.

On his part, Abdel-Razeq noted the success of Korean companies in Egypt, and shared his aspiration that they will expand on their presence in the country. He also said that he hoped for further participation from other Korean companies in Egypt, based on the existing successful experiences of other companies from the country.

He also highlighted his willingness to visit Korea, and mentioned that Egypt would welcome the Korean parliament speaker’s visit to Egypt in the future.
