Egypt has, in the strongest terms, condemned a terrorist attack targeting coal miners in the Balochistan province of Pakistan, and which resulted in about 11 deaths and several injuries.

Egypt issued a statement expressing its sincere condolences to Pakistan, and to the families of the victims. The statement also wished a speedy recovery for those injured.

Last Sunday, 11 coal mine workers were killed and several others were injured when unidentified gunmen opened fire on them.

The police said the gunmen took the miners to the nearby mountains, where the miners were shot.

The injured were taken to hospital for treatment, and police units, alongside representatives from the local administration and border police, cordoned off the area immediately after the accident.

Later on Sunday, the Islamic State terrorist group claimed its responsibility for the attack.
