Alaa Afifi, founder of the Ya Balash e-commerce platform, said that the idea of the new project is based on selling used items at auction instead of disposing them.

Afifi noted that the Egyptian market for selling second-hand products is not regulated and the existence of a platform such as Ya Balash would contribute to regulating this market.

He explained that the platform will use the bidding system on the offered products, provided an initial price or a minimum limit is set to start bidding. Customers can participate in the bidding on any product they want throughout the period of its display.

The platform will initially focuses on electronic products which will be examined by specialized technicians to ensure their validity for reuse, according to Afifi. The Ya Balash will officially launch within two weeks.

The website will start its trial operation by offering six products for bidding after two weeks. These include printers with an initial price of EGP 150, a mobile phone at an initial price of EGP 75, an Apple screen that starts at EGP 500, and a router at an initial price of EGP 10.
