Egyptian company Brightskies, which specialises in advanced computing and software solutions, executes 80% of its total business volume outside Egypt, according to the company’s Chairperson Khaled Elamrawi.

Elamrawi said that the remaining percentage of the company’s business takes place within the Egyptian market. The company is developing advanced technologies in various sectors, especially cars, energy, education, banking, and telecommunications.

Speaking on the sidelines of a press conference held by the company on Tuesday, Elamrawi added that the company has offices in Cairo and Alexandria, in addition to Dubai and Germany. These offices serve Brightskies’ clients in Europe, Asia, Africa, and North America.

Elamrawi noted that the company has more than 140 software engineers working in computing and enterprise software solutions sectors.

He said that Egypt’s opportunities for expansion in the auto industry are linked to keeping pace with three modern trends in global industry. The first of these trends includes developing opportunities in the electric car sector, which will transform into control of the global market within a period of 10-15 years. This will also support the preservation of non-renewable energy sources and environmental conservation.

Elamrawi revealed that the second trend is the transformation to self-driving cars, which depend on digital transformation and advanced technology. He noted that the third trend lies in the production of connected cars that rely on cloud infrastructure and the Internet of Things (IoT), with digital solutions mainly contributing to the industry’s development.

Moreover, Hicham Arafa, Chief Operations Officer of Brightskies, said that the global automotive industry has shifted from the traditional dynamic model to integrating solutions and software systems. This has come with the entry of new competitors to the industry from major technology companies such as Google, Apple, and Tesla.

Arafa said that Brightskies is working to develop smart driving systems for cars and entertainment, on top of which will be the installation of electronic sensors for cars. He added that the electric car industry would make a fundamental leap in the future.

He also said that vehicles have now become a network of electronic circuits connected to each other via the Internet. He expected that the traditional steering wheel will disappear one day.
