Real estate developer Minka Development has announced the launch of Kinda, its latest project in east Cairo, worth a projected total of EGP 5bn in investments, according to CEO Abdallah Sallam.

Sallam said that designing the project started in July 2019, while the preliminary construction work began in May 2020. The company plans to complete the project by 2025.

In its final form, Kinda is set to cover a 28-feddan (115,000 sqm) plot of land, with a 400-metre frontage overlooking the Royal Kempinski Hotel, directly on the Ring Road.

Minka Development said that Kinda has been inspired by Canadian cities, with the company having analysed the construction and set up of cities in the North American country.

“The reaction of our customers towards our previous projects, and the thirst for an innovative product, encouraged us to embark on this very special project,” Sallam said. “We purchased the land in March 2020 from Madinet Nasr for Housing and Development (MNHD).”

He added that the land’s total value now stands at EGP 1.15bn, with investments expected to reach EGP 5bn.

“Choosing our partners and consultants was one of the very first and most important steps in realising this project,” Sallam said, “Canadian architectural and urban planning firm SvN was the first partner to help introduce a lot of the innovations at Kinda.”

Sallam added that Arup, one of the biggest engineering consultancy firms in the world also came on board. The consultancy firm has gained an international reputation in sustainability, renewable energy, and infrastructure. The UK’s Trinity Design was brought on as the project’s landscape consultant.

“On the local front, we have compiled a group of partners and consultants that are as important as their international counterparts,” Sallam said. “Amongst these are two very important ones: our contracting firm, INSHA’; and INK Design Hub, our interior design partners that will also engage with our clients to make sure that their new homes are designed to suit their tastes and needs.”

He further elaborated that the project comprises of about 800 fully finished units that will be delivered over consecutive stages. The project is divided into a parcel for standalone villas, another one for apartment buildings, and a dedicated parcel for administrative buildings.

Kinda will also have a full quadrant devoted to a comprehensive community centre offering a variety of services, as well as commercial and entertainment components. This is in addition to green spaces designed throughout the master plan, which reach up to 75% of the project’s total area.
