CMA CGM Group, a leading shipping and logistics company, has announced it is expanding its JEDDEX service covering the ports of Aqaba in Jordan and Ain Sokhna in Egypt.

In a Tuesday press statement, the group said it will be offering a competitive transit time from and to Egypt and Jordan, to Mogadishu and Mombasa. The service runs in addition to a wider offer for the Intra Red Sea Market.

The service will provide a connection between the US, the Mediterranean Sea, Europe, Kenya, and Somalia. It will see an improved and shortened transit time that will positively impact the reefer cargo trade and the sensitive cargo in dry box.

The line will deploy the CMA CGM BRAZIL 15,128 TEUs (Twenty-foot Equivalent Units) which has become the largest vessel ever at the port of Ain Sokhna. The vessel, which is currently deployed on the Far East-Red Sea service, measures 366 metres in length and 51 metres in width.

Ahmad Armoush, Chairperson of CMA CGM Egypt, stated, “The development of the JEDDEX service reiterates the Group’s commitment to strengthening its service offering in Egypt. The maiden call of the CMA CGM Brazil at Ain Sokhna will broaden Egypt’s national trade with a wide access to regional and global markets.”
