The Industrial Control Authority (ICA), affiliated to Ministry of Trade and Industry, announced supplying disinfectant factories with 173,729 litres of ethanol and 38,470 litres of methanol needed for production in March.

Minister of Trade and Industry Nevine Gamea said the ministry is keen to provide local disinfectant manufacturers of their production needs of ethanol and methanol in order to meet the increasing demand in the local market, especially in light of the precautionary measures taken by the government to confront the spread of the novel coronavirus.

The ICA has conducted 2,108 inspection tours of local factories and 4,413 specialised technical studies in the first quarter of 2020.

Furthermore, the Authority has licensed 809 steam generators and thermal machines, and approved 267 after-sales service and maintenance centres. It has also responded to 435 inquiries and 411 complaints in this period.
