Food commodities are widely available in supermarkets nationwide with enough stocks for four months, said Soliman Wahdan, Deputy Speaker of the Egyptian House of Representatives.

Wahdan stressed, “There is no need to worry and store goods so that this will lead to the greed of merchants and price increases.”

Wahdan added that consumption rates must continue naturally, especially as the government is effectively dealing with the coronavirus. The deputy speaker added that it would be better if citizens adhere to the government’s current coronavirus guidelines.

He pointed out that behaviour of some citizens that exploit crises, such as the current one, must change.

Wahdan demanded that merchants and commodity traders should assume their responsibility towards Egypt, and refrain from price hikes. This comes especially as the state is firmly dealing with anyone attempting to exploit through profits and greed.
