The joint Egyptian-Jordanian Higher Committee Meeting is one of the oldest higher committees in the Arab region, beginning its activities in the 1980s, the statement said, adding that it was one of the most successful committees over the past 30 years.

Al-Mashat asserted that Egyptian-Jordanian relations are deep, noting that the government is keen on developing relations with Jordan in various economic cooperation fields within the framework of the strategic ties binding the two nations.

Both ministers also discussed preparations for a visit by delegations from Egypt’s International Cooperation Ministry and Jordan’s Trade, Industry, and Supply Ministry to Iraq to boost trilateral cooperation in various fields.

The volume of trade exchange between Egypt and Jordan from January to April 2019 jumped to $408.6m with an increase of 108.2%, compared to the corresponding period in 2018.

The balance of trade between the two countries in four months recorded a surplus worth $325.6m in favour of Egypt, a report issued by the Egyptian Commercial Office in Amman said on 14 July 2019.
