The Egyptian Company for Metro Management and Operation renewed its contract with the Spanish company Indra for global technology and consultation, to implement the maintenance of ticketing systems for lines one and two of the subway for five years, worth €7m.

The Egyptian Company for Metro Management and Operation awarded the Spanish company the contract for placing entry gates and ticket sales in 2013, where Indra has been responsible for maintenance since then.

With this new contract, Indra has become a technical partner of the Cairo Metro Facility and the Egyptian Company for Metro Management and Operation. This allowed the two Egyptian entities to take advantage of new integration solutions and the interoperability capabilities between them and Indra in order to offer its services to the new metro lines project.

Indra is working to strengthen its presence in Egypt and participate in other major transport projects such as the Cairo-Aswan high-speed train, developing and establishing the infrastructure of the New Administrative Capital, and the plan to develop the Golden Triangle mining area on the Red Sea coast.

Indra’s new transportation offer includes a range of solutions covering the full cycle of transport projects for the company’s customers, from engineering consulting to assembly, operation and control, security, communications, user experience improvement, and after-sales services.
