Egypt ranks 3rd in World Cup Group A by market value

The draw for the 2018 World Cup put Egypt in Group A with Russia, Saudi Arabia, and Uruguay.

According to statistics by Transfermarkt, the Egyptian team ranks third in terms of market value compared to the other Group A teams. The Egyptian national team is valued at €84.5m, following Russia in second place, worth €138.6m, and Uruguay on top, with a net worth of €207.1m.

Yet, Egypt is ranked second among the group in terms of FIFA rankings, where it is ranked 31st globally, following Uruguay at 21st. Meanwhile, Russia is ranked 65th and Saudi Arabia 63rd.

According to the same report, Liverpool’s Egyptian footballer Mohamed Salah is the second most expensive player in the group with a value of €40m, following Cavani of Uruguay, who plays for Paris St Germain, valued at €45m.

According to the report, the average age of players in the group ranged between 27 and 28.6 years.
