Egypt’s Mohamed Hamza wins bronze at the U20 Fencing World Cup

The Italian city of Udine celebrated the Fencing World Cup for juniors under 20 years, which ended on Friday.

Egypt’s Mohamed Hamza won the tournament’s bronze medal. Gold and silver medals went to Russians Kirill Borodachev and Iskander Akhmetov respectively.

Hamza defeated Romanian Silvio Rosso 15/6 in the round of 64. He won Spain’s Roger Garcia Alzorriz in the round of 32 15/6. In the round of 16, he defeated Argentina’s Augusto Antonio Servello 15/8.

The Egyptian champion continued his victorious streak at the quarterfinals, defeating his Russian rival, Gregory Siminiok, 15/12.

At the semifinals, he lost to Borodachev by only one point: 15/14.
