5.3% decrease in usage of jetties in Alexandria, Daqahleya ports in July

A report issued by the Alexandria Port Authority about the traffic to jetties in Alexandria and Daqahleya ports showed a 5.3% decrease in usage in July, as compared to June. In July, these two ports received 342 ships, compared to 361 ships in June.

The report showed the total general goods handled through the port reached 2.9m tonnes in July, compared to 2.7m tonnes in June, an increase of 8.5%.

Meanwhile, the number of ships of special nature in the port doubled, reaching four ships in May, compared to two ships during the same period in 2015.

The number of container ships received by the port reached 115 in July, declining 4.2% from 120 ships in June, while the number of containers handled increased by 1.6% from 135,700 containers in June to 137,900 containers in July.

According to the report, total trade through the Alexandria and El Dekhiela ports has increased by 5.7% in July, compared to June of this year. The port received 4.1m tonnes in total in July, compared to 3.8m tonnes in June.
