Head of the parliament’s largest bloc Sameh Seif Al-Yazal passed away on Monday in Al-Salam Hospital in Cairo, following deteriorating health conditions over the past few weeks.
The former intelligence officer formed an electoral list that swept the vote in the parliamentary elections last year before he went on to form the “Egypt Support” coalition in the House of Representatives, the majority bloc in parliament.
Seif Al-Yazal, 70, was considered a major pro-regime figure since the ouster of the Muslim Brotherhood government in July 2013.
