The 224 EgyptAir pilots that had handed in their resignations on Wednesday, took back their resignations on Friday after hearing Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah Al-Sisi’s speech in the Military Academy, an EgyptAir spokesperson said.
The pilots had initially handed in their resignations after having made financial and other work-related administrative demands.
The pilots noted “their belief and responsiveness” to the President’s demands, therefore pilot’s coalition decided to take back all the resignations “for the sake of the company’s interests”, they said in a statement.
EgyptAir spokesperson told Daily News Egypt that she does not want to speak on behalf of the pilots but that Al-Sisi’s speech stated that “there is no time for factional demands”.
Hossam Kamal, Minister of Civil Aviation, previously told Al-Borsa news that the pilots’ demands came as a “surprise”.
They added that they had not delayed any air traffic since the start of their dilemma.
