Beirut-based Technica aims to increase its clients to 37 companies by December, compared to 30 at the end of last month, said Morasel Mehna, the company’s sales director in Egypt.

In statements released during the Arab Beverages Conference which started Monday, Mehna said his company is optimistic about the political and economic situation in Egypt. He added that they also have plans to increase its businesses with Egyptian food manufacturers in the coming days.

Mehna said the company is not looking to build a factory in Egypt because bilateral agreements ease trade between Lebanon and Egypt.

Technica has a high production capacity that meets demands of many global food manufacturers and has offices in several African states, Mehna said.

The Arab Beverages Conference, Mehna said, seeks to bridge the relationship between producers, manufacturers and exporters of beverages in the Arab world.

The conference also aims to discuss challenges facing the food manufacturing industry and strives to create solutions that can effectively contribute to developing and upgrading the food and beverage industry in the coming period.

The conference featured top global and Arab food and beverage companies, including the Swedish Tetra Pak company, the Saudi Al-Rabie company, the US multinational corporation PepsiCo, Sedico, Technica, and Egyptian companies Juhayna, Faragallah and Al-Sagr.

Mehna said that choosing Egypt to host such a conference sends a positive message to the world that Arab investors are throwing their weight behind Cairo to overcome current challenges.
