Hossam loses in Qatar ExxonMobil Open first round

Egyptian tennis player Karim Hossam lost to French opponent Richard Gasquet in the first round of Qatar ExxonMobil Open on Tuesday.

Gasquet, the tournament’s reigning champion, defeated Hossam 7-5, 6-1.

 The French player is the fifth amongst the top seeded players in the tournament. As a result of his loss, Hossam has been eliminated from the tournament.

Several world-class players will compete for the championship, which is played on the hard courts of the Khalifa International Tennis Complex in Doha, including Spanish superstar Rafael Nadal and fellow Spaniards David Ferrer and Fernando Verdasco. English powerhouse Andy Murray and Czech player Tomas Berlych will also compete in the tournament.
