CAIRO: Ibrahim Ayew has asked Zamalek coach Hossam Hassan to clarify whether he intends to rely more on him in the remainder of the season, the Ghanaian s agent said on Thursday.

The versatile midfielder has not played any game with Zamalek since returning from international duty in Angola, where Ghana finished as runners up to champions Egypt in the African Cup of Nations.

He recently said he would like to remain at Zamalek to maximize his chances of making the Ghana squad for this year s World Cup in South Africa.

However, he could change his mind due to lack of playing time, agent Abu Kone said.

If the coach considers Ayew surplus to requirements, we will try to reach an agreement with Zamalek to terminate his contract by mutual consent, he told FilGoal.com.

Ayew has an offer from an English club, so that could be an option if he left Zamalek.

The 24-year-old has been used mainly as a substitute since joining Zamalek last summer.

However, his versatility often gives the Cairo side plenty of options.

Ayew played as an attacking midfielder, defensive midfielder and right-back in his few appearances with Zamalek.
