CAIRO: Hossam Ghaly celebrated Egypt s African Cup of Nations triumph in style, scoring twice as Saudi side Nassr beat Raed 2-0 to reach the Crown Prince Cup quarter finals on Thursday.

The central midfielder, who was a key member of Egypt s Nations Cup winning squad, opened the scoring five minutes past the hour mark.

He sent a powerful right-footed shot from the edge of the area that left the keeper with no chance.

Ghaly, who was honored by Nassr officials on Wednesday after returning from international duty, wrapped up the win six minutes from time after a fine individual effort.

His initial effort was blocked by the keeper but he gathered the ball again inside the area, overcame two challengers and slotted home.

He was given a standing ovation by Nassr fans when he was replaced one minute from time.

Ghaly, who is often criticized for being too showy and inconsistent, was surprisingly included in Egypt s squad for the Nations Cup.

The former Ahli and Tottenham Hotspur man, 28, missed just one game in the biennial tournament.
