CAIRO: Cairo duo Ahly and Zamalek are tracking Zambia s attacking midfielder Rainford Kalaba, FilGoal.com understands.

Egyptian champions Ahly have tabled a ?450,000 bid to sign Kalaba from Portuguese side Sporting Braga.

They are facing a race against time to land him as the winter transfer window ends at Sunday s midnight.

I will not speak about any new deals now. We do not speak about potential deals, we only speak about done deals, Ahly’s marketing director Adli Al-Qaeyi told FilGoal.com on Saturday.

Ahly, who boast Angolan winger Giberto and Liberian striker Francis Doe in their squad, can sign one more foreigner after loaning out Algerian playmaker Amir Sayoud to Kuwaiti side Arabi.

The Red Devils arch-rivals Zamalek are also in the frame, having enquired about Kalaba s availability.

The White Knights have recently signed another attacking midfielder in Hussein Yasser, who terminated his deal with Ahly by mutual consent.

Kalaba has attracted suitors after putting in some fine displays in the African Cup of Nations with Zambia.

He played in Zambia s three group-stage games and scored in their 2-1 victory over Gabon.

The 23-year-old missed the team s quarter-final defeat to Nigeria due to automatic suspension.

Kalaba penned a five-year deal with Braga in the summer of 2008 but spent last season on loan at Gil Vicente F.C.
