Egyptian-Belarusian cooperation protocol to establish heavy transport vehicle factory

Minister of Military Production Mohamed Al-Assar witnessed the signing of a cooperation protocol between the National Organisation for Military Production, the Belarusian company MAZ, and El Dawlia Company for Engineering & General Contracting. El Dawlia is MAZ’s agent in Egypt.

The protocol aims to establish a factory for the production of heavy transport vehicles in cooperation with military production companies. The military production companies possess technological and human resource capabilities in the field of manufacturing equipment and transport vehicles.

The National Organization for Military Production will cooperate with MAZ in the joint manufacturing of heavy transport vehicles, in which the ratio of local components used in manufacturing will be 60-70%.

According Al-Assar, the organisation will finance the factory and support all production kits and the necessary production lines. The organisation will benefit from MAZ’s expertise in manufacturing and assembly. El Dawlia will be responsible for marketing campaigns for the vehicles, both inside and outside of Egypt.

The signing of such protocols is included in the efforts exerted by the Ministry of Military Production to support and encourage local manufacturing.

The ministry has signed a cooperation protocol with the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Ashraf El-Shihy, to benefit from the ministry’s technical and technological competences in the field of heavy and medium industries, as well as its expertise in the areas of research that are prepared by the ministry’s centre of scientific and technological excellence.

The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research seeks to benefit from that expertise to develop and prepare models for applied research to develop them in order to benefit the economy. Fields of research include metallurgy, engineering, chemical and electronic industries, the development of irrigation systems, and new and renewable energy systems.

Banha Company Electronic Industries, affiliated to the Ministry of Military Production, signed a cooperation protocol with Cairo University to manufacture and supply 750,000 tablets for students of Cairo University.

The ministry also signed a cooperation protocol with the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology in order to benefit from the military’s production capabilities and use them in local manufacturing, in order to cover local market needs, to reduce imports, and attract investment.
