 Vodafone announced that it is planning to invest EGP 9bn in Egypt. The future investments will create 3,000 job opportunities for Egyptians until 2017 with the aim of revitalising the economy, according to a cabinet statement issued on Monday.

The announcement was made during a meeting between representatives from Vodafone Global Enterprise, Minister of Communication and Information Technology in Cairo Atef Helmy and the British Ambassador.

The representatives stressed that Vodafone is keen to continue working in Egypt. They reviewed future plans for growth in the Egyptian market, adding that the amount of Vodafone investments in Egypt totalled EGP 30bn during the last 15 years.
