Lewis Hamilton has won the Austrian Grand Prix for the first time in controversial circumstances. The British driver collided with Mercedes team mate Nico Rosberg on the final lap to claim a third win of the year.
The aim of the new Formula One qualifying rules was to create an exciting shootout finish. But the result was anything but, as cars were back in their garage before time expired.
Rosberg also got the best time in the race on lap 67 after he completed it in 1:20 minutes.
Nico Rosberg started in pole position ahead of Mercedes teammate and 2015 drivers’ champion Lewis Hamilton. As has so often been the case, Hamilton attacked going into the first turn, but this time the German managed to rescue his advantage.
