Arab African International Bank (AAIB) has won the Banking In-House Team of the Year award at the Legal Era Middle East Law Awards 2025–2026, the bank announced on Tuesday.
AAIB was the only bank to receive the award, following a highly competitive selection process in which it was shortlisted alongside 14 other international financial institutions. The bank said the recognition underscores its professional excellence and distinction in the field of banking law.
The award recognises the specialised expertise of AAIB’s Legal Affairs Division and the strategic role it plays in advising the bank’s various divisions. The division supports transactions and complex deals and provides business-oriented legal counsel, while also managing legal risks and addressing regulatory requirements.
According to the bank, this integrated approach enables the division to safeguard AAIB’s interests, inform business decisions, and support the achievement of the bank’s strategic objectives.
The Legal Era Middle East Law Awards honour law firms, in-house legal departments, and legal professionals across the region, recognising excellence in legal practice and contributions to the legal and business community.
In-house legal teams have taken on a growing role in the banking sector in recent years, as lenders navigate evolving regulatory frameworks, more complex financing structures, and heightened compliance demands across regional and international markets.
Founded in 1964 as Egypt’s first joint venture bank, AAIB is jointly owned by the Central Bank of Egypt and the Kuwait Investment Authority, alongside other shareholders. The bank offers a broad range of corporate, retail, and investment banking services through its network in Egypt and abroad.
