Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi arrived at Kuala Lumpur International Airport on Friday to commence a state visit to Malaysia, marking the second leg of an Asian tour following a diplomatic summit in South Korea.
Upon his arrival, Sisi was received by Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, alongside Malaysian Defence Minister Mohamed Khaled Nordin and Foreign Ministry Protocol Director Ikram Mohammad Ibrahim. Head of Government Protocol at the Prime Minister’s Office Rozainor Ramli, Malaysian Ambassador to Egypt Mohamed Tariq Sufian, Egyptian Ambassador to Malaysia Karim El Sadat, and members of the Egyptian embassy in Kuala Lumpur were also present to receive the delegation.
The visit to Malaysia follows Sisi’s October 7 to 9 trip to Seoul, where Egypt and South Korea elevated their bilateral ties to a strategic partnership. During the first leg of the tour, Sisi and South Korean President Lee Jae-myung oversaw the signing of 12 agreements across various sectors and launched negotiations for a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA).
The Asian tour is scheduled to conclude with a final stop in Indonesia.
