The Housing and Development Bank (HDB) has announced the appointment of Mohamed Gamil as Deputy CEO and Managing Director. The move reflects the bank’s strategy of attracting distinguished banking leaders with diverse expertise who can add value and contribute to achieving its objectives, while supporting its ambitious expansion and growth plans.
Gamil’s appointment is part of HDB’s ongoing efforts to consolidate its position as a full-service commercial bank and provide an advanced banking experience for various customer segments. The bank’s strategy also aims to expand its innovative solutions, strengthen digital services, and enhance service standards.
Gamil brings more than 26 years of banking experience, during which he held a number of senior and executive positions in the banking sector. He has gained extensive experience across retail banking, branches and sales, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), digital banking channels, electronic payments, and financial inclusion. He has also served on the boards of a number of companies and institutions across various sectors, reflecting his broad experience in governance and strategic management.
Throughout his career, Gamil has contributed to leading and developing a number of banking business lines, with a focus on growing retail banking and SME portfolios, enhancing customer experience, expanding digital solutions and channels, and supporting financial inclusion and the transition towards electronic payments.
He also brings extensive experience in team management, business development, and achieving targets, in addition to executive expertise in developing and implementing strategies and managing various banking functions. This experience strengthens his ability to contribute effectively to the bank’s development during the coming period.
