The Ministry of Health is reviewing a proposal to grant a concession for the management, operation and development of the General Authority for Health Insurance’s New Heliopolis Hospital, as part of efforts to introduce international management models and improve medical services.
Health Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar ordered the relevant authorities to review the proposal during a meeting of the General Authority for Health Insurance’s board, the ministry said in a statement.
The statement did not identify the party that submitted the proposal or provide details on the proposed concession’s value or duration.
The board also discussed a proposed cooperation agreement between Misr Insurance and the New Administrative Capital Hospital that would allow patients not covered by the health insurance system to receive treatment on a case-by-case basis, in accordance with the hospital’s financial regulations and an approved insurance package.
Another proposed agreement would allow students at private technical nursing schools to receive training through the General Authority for Health Insurance. Abdel Ghaffar ordered officials to verify the schools’ licences and compliance with Health and Education Ministry standards before the training agreements are implemented.
In a separate meeting with National Service Projects Organization Chairperson Magdy Anwar, Abdel Ghaffar reviewed the financial and implementation status of healthcare projects being carried out for the ministry and called for the faster completion of hospitals and other facilities.
The ministry said officials reviewed financial and implementation obstacles and discussed measures to accelerate construction and deliver projects according to their targeted schedules as the government expands its Universal Health Insurance System.
Abdel Ghaffar cited the Ras El-Hekma and New Alamein hospitals as models for the standards the ministry is seeking to apply to the development of other healthcare facilities.
