Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi warned on Saturday that Iran missile attacks on several Arab nations threaten to trigger “regional chaos” and represent a “direct threat” to the stability and security of the entire Middle East.
In a series of telephone calls to the leaders of the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Bahrain, Sisi expressed Egypt’s full solidarity with the brotherly nations following the Iranian strikes. According to Presidential Spokesperson Mohamed El-Shennawy, Sisi categorically rejected any violation of Arab sovereignty, stating that the security of these nations, particularly Saudi Arabia, is an “integral part of Arab national security.”
The diplomatic outreach followed a Saturday barrage in which Iran fired missiles at several Arab Gulf cities in retaliation for US and Israeli strokes on Iran. In the UAE, state media reported one fatality in Abu Dhabi, while fires broke out on Dubai’s Palm Islands near a hotel following multiple blasts. Kuwait, Qatar, the UAE, Bahrain, and Jordan all reported intercepting Iranian missiles.
“All occupied territories and the criminal U.S. bases in the region have been struck by the powerful blows of Iranian missiles,” Iran’s Revolutionary Guards said in a statement, vowing to continue the operation “relentlessly.”
In his discussions with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed and Bahrain’s King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, Sisi warned that such practices open the door to a “vicious cycle of violence” and bloodshed. Speaking with King Abdullah II of Jordan and the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Sisi called for an intensification of international and regional action to contain the tension.
The Egyptian president repeatedly emphasised that dialogue and diplomacy remain the “only way” to overcome the crisis, warning that military escalation would only increase human suffering and undermine regional development.
In response, the Arab leaders expressed their appreciation for Egypt’s steadfast support. King Hamad of Bahrain specifically highlighted the importance of joint Arab coordination to safeguard national security, while Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed praised the historical and brotherly ties binding their nations to Egypt.
