Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi directed, on Thursday, for enhancing the performance of the social aid mechanism and supporting it financially and technically, to ensure that citizens with urgent situations receive immediate support.
During his meeting with the Minister of Social Solidarity Nevine Al-Kabbaj, Al-Sisi asserted the need to further rely on youth in social aid programmes to benefit from their creative ideas and their high willingness to participate in voluntary and charity works.
The president was briefed on the latest emergency support programmes for citizens who suffered from social problems that required immediate intervention, Presidency Spokesperson Bassam Rady said.
Al-Kabbaj reviewed her Ministry’s efforts to develop emergency support programmes to provide families with necessary social protection.
Moreover, Al-Sisi directed the promotion of fishermen support programmes by providing them with the supplies and equipment necessary for their work, in addition to expanding the local production of fishing tools. This came within the Egyptian state’s plans to support irregular workers.
The President also reviewed the progress of the rural community development programme, ordering the expansion of leadership training programmes for women in rural areas, to increase social, educational, and health awareness.
