CAIRO: Ahly and Egypt center-half Wael Gomaa revealed his consternation over the security procedures announced by the FA ahead of the restart of the Premier League this week.

The domestic competition is set to resume on Wednesday following major security concerns in the wake of the January 25 Revolution.

The chaotic scenes that marred Zamalek’s Champions League game with Club Africain earlier this month raised more fears over the safe resumption of the second half of the season.

Moreover, the FA informed clubs that they will have to be responsible for securing matches, stressing that the police role will be secondary.

“I find it difficult to implement such a procedure. I believe it is essential that police forces secure matches,” Gomaa told FilGoal.com.

“In the Zamalek-Africain match, fans who invaded the pitch were from one side, while in league matches there is rivalry, so we have to be extra cautious.”

Ahly resume their league campaign against Cairo rivals Police Union, who are level on 26 points with the defending champions.
