Egypt’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population, Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, met on Monday with Ashraf Rabie, Vice President of Biogeneric Pharma, to discuss cooperation in strengthening the country’s healthcare sector, the ministry said in a statement.
Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the ministry’s spokesperson, said the meeting reviewed the company’s achievements since the opening of its plant in 10th of Ramadan City, which includes an integrated facility for producing vaccines and biologics using mRNA technology, in line with World Health Organization standards.
He added that discussions covered the mechanisms for registering medicines and vaccines after verifying their safety and efficacy, with the aim of supporting Egypt’s strategy to localize advanced pharmaceutical industries, reduce reliance on imports, and bolster the national economy in line with Egypt’s Vision 2030 and the Sustainable Development Goals.
The minister stressed the government’s commitment to achieving self-sufficiency in vaccines and sera as a strategic priority for health security.
The meeting was also attended by Deputy Health Minister Amr Kandil and Ahmed El-Kurdi, Head of Government Affairs at Biogeneric Pharma.
