Cairo to host African Men’s Handball Championship draw

The draw ceremony of the African Men’s Handball Championship, which Egypt will host from 9 to 19 July this year, will be held on Thursday, in Cairo.

It was decided that the stars of the Egyptian handball team will participate in the draw for the tournament, headed by Ahmed Al-Ahmar, captain of the Pharaohs, along with Karim Hindawi, Ibrahim Al-Masry, and Yahya Al-Dara’.

The organizing committee of the African competition has decided that both Hassan Mostafa and October halls will host the tournament, due to the preoccupation of Cairo Stadium.

The organizing committee also appointed Mohamed El Alfy, the technical director of the Heliopolis team, as the director of the tournament.

The past few days witnessed intensive meetings by the temporary committee that runs the game federation headed by Mohamed Al-Amin, to find out the latest preparations and preparations for Egypt’s hosting of the tournament.

The federation officials received the approval of 14 teams to participate in the championship. The countries are as follows: Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, Angola, Cameroon, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Cape Verde, Gabon, Guinea, Kenya, Nigeria, Senegal, and Zambia, in addition to Egypt (the hosts and holders of the title).

Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports, was keen to hold an expanded meeting recently with the temporary committee that runs the Egyptian Handball Federation to check on the latest preparations for the African Championship.
