Egyptian President orders acceleration of development projects in Upper Egypt: PM Madbouly

Egypt’s Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly visited Aswan on Saturday, accompanied by Minister of Housing Assem El-Gazzar and several executive leaders.

It comes as part of his follow-up to the executive position of a number of development projects in the governorate.

At the beginning of his visit to the governorate, the Prime Minister stressed that the political leadership attaches special importance to the projects that are implemented in the governorates of Upper Egypt, and it periodically follows up the implementation rates of these projects, saying: There is a clear assignment from the president to quickly complete these projects that serve our people in Upper Egypt in various fields.

Madbouly chaired on friday a meeting to follow up on the current situation of the development and service projects being implemented in the governorate, and efforts to deal with the heavy rains that Aswan was subjected to recently. 

The meeting also discussed ways to enhance the exceptional tourism and archaeological components that the governorate enjoys.

Madbouly added “We are witnessing giant projects in the governorates of Upper Egypt, most notably the “Benban” project to generate electricity from solar energy, which won a large share of international acclaim, and won international awards that reflect its importance, and the project is a clear indication that the Egyptian government It is moving towards supporting environmentally compatible clean energy projects.”

The Prime Minister began his tour by inspecting the road development works leading to the “Kima 2” factory, then he made an extensive tour inside the factory, which is one of the major industrial projects in Upper Egypt, with investments close to EGP 12bn.

The Prime Minister was briefed on the plant’s workflow rates, during which it was noted that the design capacity of the plant amounts to 1,575 tonnes / day of urea fertilizer, and 1,200 tonnes / day of ammonia, and provides more than 2,000 job opportunities.

Madbouly also inspected the ongoing development works in New Aswan, which is being built on an area of ​​22,000 acres, and according to the general plan of the city, it includes a number of residential areas, investment areas, regional service areas, service and entertainment hubs, in addition to the industrial area, and the village.

The Prime Minister was briefed on the executive position of the social housing projects in Aswan, and a number of service buildings were completed: educational, health, religious, recreational, and government services building, in addition to the completion of the beach park and the open theater and the Corniche development works in New Aswan City.

At the end of his tour in Aswan, the Prime Minister praised the rates of project implementation in the governorate, noting that the visit of President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, which he paid at the end of last month to the governorate, gave a strong boost to the rates of project completion in the governorate, reiterating the highest priority given by the political leadership to implement projects that serve our people in Upper Egypt in various fields, foremost of which is the presidential initiative “A Dignified Life”.
