National Reading Programme announces winners of first edition

The Research Science Institute (Egypt – Dubai) will announce the winners of the first round of the National Reading Programme (NRP), in addition to launching the second round, pursuing NRP’s mission to encourage school, Al-Azhar institutes and university students, along with teachers to indulge in reading. 

Through achieving knowledge sustainability among all community segments, the programme reinforces Egypt’s cultural leadership complying with the state’s vision 2030. The programme also targets thriving with Arabic language.

Top 10 winners in NRP’s four pillars will be announced during the closing ceremony for the programme which was launched last year. 

First, second winners will be awarded with EGP 1m and EGP 500,000 respectively. The remaining winners’ prizes range from EGP 250,000 EGP 100,000 and EGP 50,000 along with visits to the most prominent libraries worldwide.

 The National Reading Programme encompasses four main pillars: school students’ reading competition for the “Intellectual Student” title, university students’ reading competition for the “Diamond Reader” title, teachers’ reading competition for the “Intellectual Teacher” title, and special competition between community institutions for the “Enlightening Institution”. 

The NRP’s first round attracted 14 community institutions, as well as 3.5 million schools, Al-Azhar institutes and university students as well as teachers with 44 participants short-listed.

 The NRP is organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Al Azhar, and in alignment with the Ministry of Higher Education, the Ministry of Culture, the Egyptian Knowledge Bank. According to an initial plan, the project will continue for ten years, with half a billion Egyptian pounds investment, divided into EGP 50 million each year.
