Ministry of Education asserts new academic year to start in October

Minister of Education and Technical Education, Tarek Shawky, asserted that the new school year 2021-2022, will start on 9 October despite the emergence of the Delta Plus coronavirus (COVID-19).

The Minister confirmed, in a statement on Wednesday, that coordination has been made with the Supreme Committee for Corona Crisis Management, before taking any action for the new school year.

The minister pointed out that all schools across the republic will be sterilized inside and out, asserting that students will not enter school unless they wear face masks.

Shawky told local media that there is coordination between the ministries of education and health to vaccinate teachers and administrators with the Coronavirus vaccine, stressing that no teacher will be allowed to enter the school unless he had taken the vaccine.

He has also indicated that the ministry will develop several scenarios to continue the study in the new academic year, stressing that about 19 million students will attend the new academic year.

The Minister of Education explained that strict measures will be applied in all schools nationwide, to preserve the safety of students, stressing that every school contains two Corona isolation rooms in directing any coronavirus infection.
