Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi has ordered for the removal of all financial obstacles that limit the fight against the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, according to Mohamed Awad Tag El-Din, Presidential Adviser for Health and Prevention Affairs.

During a televised interview, Tag El-Din added that Al-Sisi has stressed the need to provide all the necessary funds in this regard. This would go to health and other related preventative institutions, or for institutions that produce medicine and medical devices to combat the virus.

He explained that the President has also directed for any financial obstacles to be removed in order to ensure that Egypt has the ability to produce COVID-19 vaccines locally. This will ensure that the country can meet its needs for vaccines.

Tag El-Din pointed out that Egypt will also supply the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region with the vaccines they require.

He said that the global health crisis has proven that the presence of strong scientific, health, and human entities to provide vaccines has become a very important national necessity.

The adviser noted that Egypt is currently facing a third wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, and reiterated the need to commit to the preventative measures to limit the virus’ spread.

Meanwhile, Tag El-Din said that President Al-Sisi is following up on the executive position to establish a high-level enterprise for the production of high quality artificial limbs in Egypt.

He said that a single Egyptian national institution will be established to link all trained agencies and human cadres to support the artificial limbs production sector.
