Egypt condemned Israel’s demolition of over 70 homes and buildings in the village of Humsa Al-Buqi’a in the Tubas governorate in the occupied Palestinian territories, Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs Spokesperson, Ahmed Hafez, said on Saturday.

The demolition in the village, which was located in the Jordan Valley, has caused the displacement of dozens of Palestinians, including children.

Hafez said that this procedure is a clear violation of international legitimacy and the decisions of international humanitarian law. These practices exacerbate the already difficult humanitarian conditions suffered by the Palestinian people, he stressed, and add to the challenges related to the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

He also said that it represents an obstacle to putting in place a two-state solution, and the chances of achieving comprehensive and just peace, as well as regional stability.
