The Board of Directors at the Supreme Council of Antiquities will exempt cafeterias and bazaars located in the council’s museums and archaeological from paying rent until the end of October 2020.

The exemption decision, which will cover all rent, was taken at the council’s last meeting chaired by Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Khaled Al-Anani.

Mustafa Waziri, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, said the decision comes as part of the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities’ efforts to reduce the economic effects of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis.

A rent exemption for tenants at museums and archaeological sites until the end of the coronavirus crisis has been in effect across Egypt since April, to cushion the negative impacts of the virus.
