Egypt reports highest daily COVID-19 count of 1,536 cases, 46 fatalities

The Ministry of Health announced on Sunday a total of 1,536 confirmed new coronavirus (COVID-19) cases, and 46 new fatalities.

The latest reported figures are to date Egypt’s highest daily record of both the number of confirmed new cases and deaths. 

The latest figures raise the country’s total number of confirmed cases to 24,985 infections, 959 deaths and 6,037 recoveries. 

A total of 344 cases recovered on Sunday and have been discharged from quarantine facilities at hospitals, the ministry said.

Earlier on Sunday, Minister of Health Hala Zayed revealed during a cabinet meeting that six governorates are experiencing the highest rate of coronavirus cases, with a total of 15,415. The governorates were named as Cairo, Giza, Qaliubiya, Menoufia, Fayoum, Alexandria and Beheira.
